Kristine Van

Residential Manager

Greetings from the Cunderdin Ag Residential Crew.

We having been having some fun lately despite a few hiccups here and there.  I wish you could have seen us last night as the Year 11’s finished dinner as we played crazy charades as the students left the dining hall. I had students leaving the dining hall acting out their favourite animal, cars, footy stars and songs just to name a few. It was very funny and a really lovely moment shared amongst all of us.  It has been great to spend more time with the students as it has been all hands on deck as staff are helping out in the kitchen and dining room for two days this week (a few staff down and a broken dish washer can you believe it??!!)

Our new Kitchen staff have hit the ground running. Ms Jess Marshall and Mrs Kylie Davey are exceptional cooks and as you will see from the photos the food we are providing to our students is plentiful, extremely healthy, colourful and delicious. Please see the attached photos.

On the weekend we had bike rides around DCA and the longest slippery slide EVER on the grass area. 50 metres of black plastic, 3 hoses, 6 bottles of no tears shampoo and 4 very wet staff made for a fun couple of hours for our boarders on Saturday and visits to the Cunderdin pool on Sunday with Miss KV. Trips to Tammin Roadhouse and Northam McDonalds as well as lots of sport.  We are very mindful of keeping our students safe while also keeping them entertained so while Perth trips are out just for the moment we are busy balancing rest and recreation here and in the region. Many of our boarders had a very long sleep-in on Sunday as the term is catching up with them.

Gastro and cold-like symptoms are still showing up and I am so grateful to the parents that support us trying to keep everyone safe by picking up their children as soon as possible. We understand that at times it is difficult but we aim to keep all students safe at this time.

In regards to leave can I please ask parents to please make notes on their students leave as to who they are travelling with and if leaving early a reason why. We require this information to keep students safe. If travelling with other parents or family members these people are required to be added as hosts if a regular occurrence or if not regular just in the note section.

Please don’t hesitate to contact Miss KV for any assistance in this matter.
