Ms Julie Ryan

Now we are in Week 6, we are fully into the swing of the term and our students have reallysettled into their face to face classes. It is wonderful to see our students engaging with peers in the yard and working with classmates. Many of our students also taking advantage of our extensive extracurricular program and signing up for sports, lunchtime clubs and preparing to be in a range of other activities including the instrumental music program and the LSC musical, to name just a few!

Our year 9s have made a successful transition into the middle school and are enjoying their first opportunity to do some electives. I had the pleasure of visiting a forensic science class and it was such a joy to see students engaged in their learning with such engaging content.

I experienced an amazing year 10 Assembly where we congratulated our senior scholarship winners for 2022. These students receive a financial scholarship for use at the college over years 10, 11 and 12 for their textbooks. These scholarships are based on a rigorous application and interview process that started last year.

This year our scholarship winners are:

Academic:

  • Suganja Sathiyananthan
  • Violeta Thodori
  • Shayla Vo
  • Muqtada Al-Shammary

Sport: Sara Mickoska

Community: Hailey Eishold

Leadership: will be re advertised as the student has left the college

At our assembly, we also the privilege of hearing from our School Captains who spoke to our year 10 cohort to share some of their learnings about the importance of year 10 as a foundation to set up success at VCE. They also provided some very useful leadership advice to those students who are currently applying for leadership positions. I thank the captains for their time away from their studies to deliver such important messages to our
