INSTALLATION OF FR JOHN AS PARISH PRIEST

Bishop Shane Mackinlay will be here to celebrate the 6.00pm Mass and the Installation of Fr John as Parish Priest tomorrow, Saturday, 26th February.

 

WELCOME

Welcome to all our Diocesan RCIA people preparing for Easter who are meeting at St Augustine’s this weekend for the annual retreat.

We pray for the catechumens, candidates, their sponsors, families and Parish teams as they gather for their retreat. May they be filled with the Holy Spirit and always know the love of God is with them.

 

THANK YOU

Our Parish wishes to give a big thank you to Fr Pompeyo for all his support and saying Mass at Tongala over the past year. We know all the parishioners at Tongala will miss his care for them and his happy ways.

We wish Fr Pompeyo all the best for his journey to join his family in America, while he continues his service to God.

 

PPC MEETING PARISH REPORT

Key points from the February Meeting of the PPC:

  • We were pleased to welcome new St Augustine’s College Principal Jay Sutton to our meeting via zoom. We are looking forward to continuing our successful partnership between Parish and School.
  • We planned Fr John’s installation and Parish BBQ to be held at 6.00pm Mass on Saturday 26th February. A copy of the invitation has been advertised in school newsletter, bulletins, Facebook and on our Website. All parishioners are invited to help celebrate this special event.
  • Over the next month or so we will be revisiting our Parish strategic plan and the PPC look forward to input from Parishioners.
  • The Parish Pastoral Council and the Parish Finance Council are in the process of planning a meet and greet between the two groups to get know one another and to discuss the strategic way forward for the Parish.
  • PPC would like to recruit some new members; if you feel you can contribute to the Parish via the PPC please contact Alana or any member of the PPC for further information. Please pray for a fruitful recruitment.
  • The parish is on the lookout for volunteers to help with various ministries.

PRAYER IN THE PARK

Parishioners are invited to join other churches for prayer in the park on Saturday 26th February from10am-12 noon at Edis Park.

 

HELPERS STILL NEEDED

We are still looking for interested parishioners to help set up the monthly cuppa after Mass on the second Saturday and third Sunday.

This involves minimal preparation; just to ensure the urn is on, cups, tea and coffee are set up.

Please put your hand up to assist. If you can help, please put your name on the clipboard in the church or ring the Parish Office (5852 1026) and leave a message with your phone number if no answer.

 

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER 2022

The World Day of Prayer 2022 will be held on Friday, 4th March at 10.00am in St Augustine’s Church, Kyabram. For more information please call 0427 194 885.

 

PRIESTLY ORDINATION

You are welcome to attend the Ordination to the Priesthood of Deacon Jackson Saunders by Bishop Shane Mackinlay. The Ordination will take place at Sacred Heart Cathedral, High Street, Bendigo, on Saturday, 26th March, at 11.00am. Light refreshments will be available afterwards in the Cathedral grounds. Upon entering the Cathedral, you will need to use the QR Code and hand sanitise. A mask is also to be worn inside the Cathedral, unless a valid medical exemption applies. Thanksgiving Mass

You are welcome to attend the Thanksgiving Mass for Fr Jackson Saunders. This will take place on Sunday, 27th March, at 6pm at St Kilian’s, 161 McCrae Street, Bendigo. Light refreshments will follow in St Kilian’s Parish Hall. Upon entering St Kilian’s, you will need to use the QR Code and hand sanitise. A mask is also to be worn inside St Kilian’s, unless a valid medical exemption applies. RSVP is essential for catering and capacity purposes in the Church.
