Notables Announced 22nd February

The Children’s Book Council of Australia announced the long list of books in the running for the Children’s Book of the Year for 2022. This long list is called the Notables. The CBCA will select the short list of six books for each category from these long lists. If you would like to read about the latest and best in literature for children, the Notables are the place to find it. Visit the website and read about some of the books on the list for 2022. https://cbca.org.au/notables-2022. The home page also has a video of the announcement. https://cbca.org.au/

We have many of the books already in our library. Thanks to our monthly standing order with Lamont Books we get these into the library and in children’s hands soon after they are published. The books range from fantasy to history, stories about sharing and about accepting who you are. Many of these books are also ones that your children have been listening to in library lessons for the last year.

The announcement of the shortlist for the Book of the Year for 2022 will be made at midday on 29th March. Then we will all be preparing for Book Week in August with the theme of ‘Dreaming with eyes open’.

This Week in the Library

Jo has created amazing displays inside and outside the library. Outside in our display cabinet we have ‘What’s Cooking’ where a bowl is filled with all sorts of books about food and cooking from cupcake stories to cooking for teens. Inside we have pulled together all our Disney books for some fun, fantasy and nostalgia. The books have been quickly disappearing off the display stand, heading home with students.
