Yr. 7-12 LCS Swimming Carnival Report - Barrow win 4 in a Row!
Way back in Week 2 we held our Yr. 7-12 Swimming Carnival. It was an absolute pearler of a day with the mercury topping 30 degrees, certainly the warmest swimming carnival we have had in a while. Barrow were dominant all day and were successful in winning their 4th Swimming Carnival in a row!
While our participation numbers we a bit down on previous years it was still a great day of fun and participation.
An amazing 10 records fell on the day. 7 Individual records and 3 Relay team records. Well done to Sam Strating, Zinzan Farmer and Kiara Sturdy who all broke 2 individual records and Erin Clayton who broke one individual record.
Well done also to the 3 relay teams which broke records. Yr. 7 Boys Tamar (Sam Strating, Josiah Poole, Jesse Blok, Hayden Langerak), Yr. 8 Boys Barrow (Zinzan Farmer, Cody Clayton, Alex Taylor, Josiah Bain) and Yr. 9 Girls Tamar (Evanna Lichtendonk, Claire Beams, Annelise Blok, Samantha Cornish)
Thanks to all the staff who chipped in to make the day possible.
Well done to our Grade Champions:

Yr. 7-12 NSATIS Swimming Carnival Report
Well done to our NSATIS Swim Team who did an awesome job at the recent NSATIS Swimming Carnival at the Launceston Aquatic Centre.
The carnival was split into 2 sessions with the Juniors (Yr. 7&8’s) up first and the Seniors (Yr. 9,10,11,12) up second.
As I often report in this space, given the size of our school and the challenges experienced with COVID, we continue to do a great job against the bigger schools. We finished in 5th place overall which is an excellent effort. A special shout out to our U/14 Boys team who finished 4th in the U/14 pennant and shield competitions.
A special thankyou to Nicky Farmer, Kristy Challis, Yvette Blok and Wendy Griffiths who came along to assist as officials.
There were some outstanding individual performances at the carnival which are listed below. A special mention to our 3 standout swimmers. Zinzan Farmer, Sam Strating and Molly Farmer. NSATIS compile results by comparing all the heat times and then award an event placing. A comprehensive event by event breakdown with times is available on The Hub (carnivals tab>NSATIS Swimming 2022)

Itinerant Music Teachers 2022
LCS has a number of instrument teachers who take students for individual lessons at school during school hours. This is an excellent way to learn an instrument and can help students make much faster progress on their instrument. It is recommended that student’s seriously contemplating studying music from grades 9 onwards definitely consider having some private instrument tuition to further their overall music advancement. Any student in grades 5 – 8 who are serious about starting an instrument should also have lessons in order to learn crucial proper technique early in their playing life.
Students continuing lessons from last year will be individually contacted by their teachers to organise lessons for the year.
If you would like your child to start having lessons this year please email Mr Stewart (stewartp@lcs.tas.edu.au ) and include the following details;
- Students name:
- Class:
- Instrument to have lessons on:
- Contact phone number:
