Giz-A-Break

Bringing out the Best!

The Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project and Giz-A-Break have once again teamed up to offer GSSC students the experience of a four day, four-wheel drive trip to the High Country. The Year 9 girls group were on the road and off the track last week and during this time surrounded by the beauty of nature, student Cody Fairless decided to write some poetry. We think it’s awesome and we’d like to share!

Giz-A-Break

May our journey begin,

Everything packed in our 4wd.

Finding peace in our tracks.

Camp after camp,

New stories to tell,

New adventures to discover.

Finding not only new friends,

But new versions of ourselves.

The laughs and the joys,

The stories told,

The skills you learn.

If only the others knew, what this camp upholds,

Jealously will spread all over.

The people you meet,

The adventures you come across,

It’s something nothing else, could ever beat.

The Divided Road That Changed Us.

Our journey has always been easy, a road to follow.

We always agreed on which path to take.

Our journey comes to a stop, as the road divides.

We’ve come across these before,

Always choosing the same way.

This diverged road was more complicated.

I walk towards the left path, knowing you would follow,

You had other plans that lured you towards the right.

I cry and I plead,

“Please do not leave me to adventure alone.”

You turn and smile,

Fading into the wind, never to be seen again.

You still happen to follow me around.

Laughing with the trees,

Raging with the waves crashing on the beach,

crying with the rain.

Although I cannot see you, I sense your presence.

The forked road happened, not to destroy our journey,

But to begin a new one.

A journey where I stand alone,

While you stand by my side,

Slowly leading me back to you,

Leading me back to home.
