Term 2 Community Day

The Middle School House Captains (Barton - Aimee Crotty and Timothy Chou, Deakin - Sarah Farmer and Joshua Effendi, Parkes - Andrea Chai and Charlie Lamperd) have organised a mini games show extravaganza to be held this week! They have each hand picked their own all-star teams to represent their house in a 'minute to win it' style competition, testing students in a range of physical, academic, musical, artistic and miscellaneous challenges.

Deakin house have an early lead in the total points tally for the year so far, so Barton and Parkes will be hot on their heels trying to regain control.  Best of luck - may the best house win!

Mission and Fundraising for Prasat Rang School

Imagine going to a school with no toilets. Imagine not having soap and clean water to wash your hands. Imagine having diarrhoea regularly and having to miss many classes. How hard would it be to keep up and learn to read and write?

Diarrhoea is a leading cause of death in the developing world. Hundreds of millions of people have no access to soap and water to wash their hands, preventing a basic act that would empower them to block the spread of disease. Samaritan’s Purse provides toilets and hygiene training for communities, reducing the spread of disease and vastly improving their quality of life.

Ensuring our fundraising goes to organisations where the gospel is integral to all they do is a way we can honour God with the blessings he has given us as well as helping others to have eternal life.

The majority of the money we raise at St Andrews Christian College through our fundraising is helping to provide one school in rural Cambodia with a toilet block and water purifying system. The students at Prasat Rang will have the opportunity to get a better education and avoid the poverty traps that illiteracy brings, due to the school buildings, teacher training and sanitation that Samaritan’s Purse are providing through our donated funds.

We have raised about $1,000 so far this year but need to make it $10,000!

Please donate generously on fundraising days throughout the year. Any additional donations would also be welcome and can be made to Loretta Hoenen at reception.

Please also keep in mind the possibility of joining the Mission Awareness Trip to Cambodia at the end of 2017 to see how these funds have helped the Cambodian people practically and helped spread the gospel in the process.

In our focus on growing community, our desire is to set up an ALUMNI group at St Andrews.

Dr Rebecca Lim is volunteering at the College to help set up this group and will be concentrating on putting together a list of past staff and students.

If you know of any past students/staff can you please let her know via our special ALUMNI email alumni@standrews.vic.edu.au

Mission Cup - Coins for Change

We are collecting ‘change’ to help support our mission programs (Vanuatu/Cambodia/Pakistan) at St Andrews Christian College.

Keep the cup in an obvious place in your home or car, drop your loose coins into it and if the cup is full send it to school to be added to the collection. The cup will come back to you, so that you can start filling it up again.

We hope you enjoy collecting funds this way, and we are looking forward to seeing how these small coins will grow into a mountain of help over the coming years.

Prayer Group

Wednesdays at 8:45am

This year the St Andrews Parent Prayer Group will be meeting every Wednesday morning at 8:45am in the meeting room next to the school office.

The St Andrews Prayer Group would like to welcome and invite all parents to come along and join in prayer, with other parents for the needs of the St Andrews school community.

It is a great opportunity to join in fellowship with other parents.

For specific prayer requests, there is a prayer request box at the front reception desk for you to put your request in if you are unable to join us.

We are greatly blessed at St Andrews to have the opportunity to gather together for prayer. As Christians we are called to pray, and we encourage parents to join us. Be reassured that you don’t have to pray out loud if you are not comfortable in doing so.
