Principal's Report

END OF A GREAT TERM!

Well, we have come to the end of another great term here at KPS.  Once again, great learning has been happening across the board.

Last night I had the honour of sharing some of the data we use to evaluate our progress as a school with our School Council.  We discussed our students' responses to the Attitudes to School Survey and our performance in this year's NAPLAN testing.  It was wonderful to share that our school has seen significant improvement in our students' attitudes to school, particularly in areas of Academic Rigour and High Expectations and in feelings of safety and connectedness to school. It is good to know that our students feel safe secure and ready to learn.  Our NAPLAN results showed the great work being undertaken in our Juniors is paying off, with our Year 3 NAPLAN data showing steady improvement.  Writing will remain a key focus as we plan for 2019 and beyond.

CURRICULUM DAY - MONDAY 12th NOVEMBER

School Council has approved a Curriculum Day for Monday 12th November.  This will be a pupil free day and teachers will be attending a professional learning session with Literacy expert Misty Adoniou.  This is a great opportunity for our staff and is a key element in our plan for continued improvement in the teaching of literacy at our school.

FIVE THOUSAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

It was thrilling to finish the term on a high note, reaching our goal of FIVE THOUSAND positive acknowledgements as part of our SWPBS approach.  This term we have been able to acknowledge over five thousand instances of our students showing RESILIENCE, RESPECT and EXCELLENCE.  A fantastic effort!!!

HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY BREAK!  SEE YOU NEXT TERM!!!
