Year 10

Ice Education Session

On Monday 22nd October, our Year 10 students attended a presentation on Ice addiction.

The presenters were Jim Gow from Head Space and Senior Constable Dean Lloyd. These two people were able to present the facts about Ice, what is in it, how harmful each ingredient is and the potential effects. They also were extremely clear on the result of trying this drug just once.

The statistics show that 85% of people who try this drug become addicted. This was a grim statistic not lost on the audience. The images and accounts of what happens to people with this habit, the devastating effects on their families and community were hard-hitting and a lot of the audience were shocked.

A very stark message was presented. It was reinforced that ice addiction is something that people can't get out of once they are in it. We would like to thank Dean and Jim for caring enough to deliver this important message to our Year 10 cohort.
