TERM 4 CURRICULUM DAY - PUPIL FREE DAY

The school will be closed on Monday 5th November.  This day is one of the designated pupil free days by the DEECD. Our staff will use this day for Professional Learning activities focusing on Strategic Planning and Curriculum Development.

In preparation for the new school, there will be an Alliance professional learning day on Wednesday 21st November. On this day, all four secondary schools will meet to begin planning for the new school.

FAREWELL YEAR 12'S

Wednesday 24th October was the final day for our Year 12 students. The day commenced with breakfast followed by the Farewell Assembly at 2.00pm. Thank you to all the parents and families who attended the assembly. Exams commenced this week and I would like to wish all our Year 12 students good luck for the remaining exams and their chosen pathways for the future. We look forward to the upcoming Valedictory dinner on Thursday, November 22nd at 7.00pm at the GV Hotel.

YEAR 12 2018 ORIENTATION PROGRAM

The Year 11 exam program commences Monday November 12th followed by the Year 12 orientation program for our current Year 11 students for two weeks from November 19th – 30th November. This is a terrific opportunity for next year’s senior students to begin preparation for their final year of secondary school studies. It is compulsory for all students entering Year 12 in 2019 to attend the two-week program.

ATTENDANCE: IT'S NOT OKAY TO BE AWAY!

Going to school every day is the single most important part of a child’s education. Students learn new things at school every day – missing school puts them behind. An important reminder for all students is that a minimum attendance rate of 90% has been set. If any student does not achieve 90% attendance it is quite likely that the student will be asked to repeat the year.  Arrangements will be made for students who may suffer long term illness, however long term holidays will not be exempt from the 90% rule, unless arrangements are put in place to send work to teachers during the absence.

Families who are planning an extended holiday overseas will be required to complete a notification form at the general office advising a return date to school and assurance that they have obtained school work to continue during their absence, so that their education is not compromised.
