Primary School

Back to School
This week the Primary School started to sound and look like it did before we went on holidays, it was great to see and hear the students enjoying their learning in their classrooms and running around at break times. Over this past week, we have had 95% of our K-2 students and 91% of the Year 3 to Year 6 students in on their allocated days. I want to say thank you to all of our families for everything you have been doing over the past 6 weeks and the support you have all given. We are still planning on moving into the next transition phase from Monday 18 May and having all of our K-6 students back full time following their normal timetables.
As you are all aware, unfortunately we have had to cancel or postpone several events across our school. Our Mother’s Day celebrations was one of these events and it certainly has been different not being able to have over 150 mothers and special guests here on site. I know the teachers have still been planning some activities around Mother’s Day and I wish all of our mums a very happy and special day on Sunday!
Behind the scenes, we are looking at rescheduling several events relating to the Primary school. The Primary Cross Country is one event we are planning to do during class times later this month. Due to restrictions, it will mean this will be a spectator free event. The K-6 Athletics carnival will now be early Term 3 in anticipation that we can have spectators at that event. As it is going to be in winter, we are at the mercy of the weather and I am anticipating that I may need to be flexible with the scheduling of this event. Keep an eye out on the calendar for these rescheduled dates.
I hope everyone has found the transition back to school relatively smooth and I wish everyone a safe and healthy weekend. To all of the mothers, I hope you are spoilt and have a wonderful day!

Pastoral Care
As a Get Happier School we have access to some fantastic resources to support our students. Created by psychologist Ivan Honey, the newly released picture story eBook ‘Sid Gets Scared’ is designed for our K-4 students. It is a story that parents can use with their children to talk about managing feelings during a period of stress, fear and uncertainty.
You can find this free book at www.gethappier.net with some other family fun activities.
Making Mother's Day Special
Students across primary spent time preparing special gifts and artworks for their Mum for Mother's Day.
