From the School Leadership Team,

From Mr. Chant,

Principal

Following the premier’s announcement yesterday we will be extending the remote and flexible learning program until at least Friday September 17th. This is last day of term 3. What happens beyond the school holidays will be announced as we have a clearer picture of vaccination rates, cases in the community and directions around students and teachers returning to onsite learning. Term 3 finishes at 2.30pm for all students.

This is not the most ideal outcome but in trying to arrest the spread of the Delta virus we all have a role to play. I’m getting my second vaccination shortly, my children are booked in and I hope we can get to a point where restrictions can be further reduced or modified.

I hope the beautiful spring weather gave everyone a chance to get outside and enjoy those wonderful days while we had them.

A reminder to our students to get ready for Sunday and make sure that you make the day a little extra special for someone who is an important part of your life.

This week we received a box full of NAPLAN results for the year 3 and 5 students who undertook the testing program prior to the current lockdown. Our Minister for Education was very positive and was able to celebrate the outcomes achieved across the state. When we opened the box and could access the aggregated performance data we could identify some key areas to celebrate with our community.

  • Year 3 and 5 students have performed above state average in every element of the NAPLAN tests.
  • Our Reading results continue to show a steady improvement with 72% of Year 5 and 84% of year 3 students reading in the top two Naplan bands. These results are well above the state average.
  • In numeracy 74% of year 3 students and 46% of year 5 students are performing in the top two bands. Both these results exceed state averages and are comparative with local and similar schools.

Our staff will access these collated results and will use this data to continue to inform planning and curriculum delivery. We are organising a process to have the results booklets copied and distributed to students and families.

We have attached some DET NAPLAN materials as a summary of the great achievements gained by our students- despite the ongoing interruptions to their learning over the last two school years.

This coming week members of the Jewish community will celebrate Rosh Hashanah. This special day is the beginning of the Jewish New Year and is often accompanied by special foods, celebrations and the blowing of horns. We have attached into assembly this week some additional information and a video made by our students that recognises the significance of this celebration.  Shanah Tova

The Book Fair has been postponed.  Further details will be provided as soon as they are available.

From Mme. Pommier,

Chers parents et tuteurs,

Merci!

Dear parents and carers,

Thank you!

Every week, our teachers make contact with parents via email or by phone as a routine call to check the wellbeing of their students and enquire about how they feel about the new timetable. Part of the focus of the call is also to check on the wellbeing of each family and that they have the support they need.

I wish to say a big thank you to our teachers for all the time they spend with the families, for their kind words and their tremendous support.

A big than you to parents and carers as well, for the way you manage to juggle both your personal and professional commitments.

Happy Father’s Day!

Dads and special persons are the heroes this weekend, may this peaceful weekend bring lovely family moments to all.
