From the Principal

Week 5 Term 3 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians

Confirmation

On Tuesday evening we held our Confirmation Faith Evening via google meets.  Ms Reed and the Yr 6 Teachers led the families through a variety of activities to  help develop a greater understanding of Confirmation and what it is like to be a spirit filled person.

Thank you to all Confirmation candidates and families for your participation in the evening. It was wonderful to see everyones faces!!!!

With the extended lockdown Confirmation will need to  be postponed until places of worship are allowed 100 in the church or the equivalent via the square metre rule.

Here is the link to one of the spirit filled people that the confirmation candidates and their families discussed.

Lockdown 6.0

As announced by the Premier yesterday Lockdown 6.0 has been extended by a week. This means that remote learning will continue until the 19th August. Our wonderful teachers will continue to provide  the regular google meets, remote learning activities as well as general support for our students.  The school is fully understanding of the difficulties families face juggling work commitments and home learning during lockdowns so please let your child's teacher know if  your child can not attend a meet or complete an activity. Hopefully we will see everyone on the 20th August!!!!!

I ask that requests for children  to be onsite fall into the falling categories set out by MACS

  1. Children where both parents/carers are authorised workers who cannot work from home, work for an essential provider and where no other supervision arrangements can be made:
    • where there are two parents/carers, both must be authorised workers, working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for onsite provision
    • for single parents/carers, the authorised worker must be working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for onsite provision.
  2. Children experiencing vulnerability, including those:
    • residing in out-of-home care
    • deemed vulnerable by a government agency, funded family or family violence service, and assessed as requiring education and care outside the family home
    • identified by a school as vulnerable, including via referral from a government agency, funded family or family violence service, homeless or youth justice service, or mental health or other health service.

Where a parent/carer indicates that a student with a disability is vulnerable because they cannot learn from home, and/or informs the school the student is vulnerable due to family stress, the school must provide onsite supervision for that student. This may apply to students enrolled in special schools and students with a disability enrolled in mainstream schools.

I ask that you email me bgrace@sbedesbn.catholic.edu.au requesting onsite supervision for next week.

For those students who are onsite I ask that parents ensure the children are at school no later than 8.35am. This allows for 10 mintues to unpack and be ready for the 8.45am meet.

First Eucharist

We were fortunate to be able to celebrate our final "First Eucharist" last Thursday evening before we entered lockdown. It was a beautiful ceremony that Fr John made special for our candidates and their families. It was a joy to see the smiles on the childrens faces.

Thanks
