2021 Book Week

Celebrating Books and Reading

The Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book Week 2021

Each year since 1945 the Children’s Book Council of Australia,CBCA, has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools

and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators.  Usually all our creative library staff would create colourful displays in our library spaces, develop activities, run competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. In 2021 all these wonderful activities that immerse us in new and emerging fantastic Australian stories and literature we have brought to everyone in an online link HERE.

A student response:

On Monday students needed to find a famous quote from within an 2021 Awarding winning new novel called The End of the World is Bigger than Love by Davina Bell:

The quote was “In the midst of winter, I found there was within me an invincible summer” by poet & philosopher Albert Camus (1913 – 1960).

Methasa, from 8G correctly found this quote and also reflected that “I think this quote could mean that in the middle of a gloomy season, the poet (Albert Camus) finds happiness and joy”. A poignant reflection for all of us – thank you Methasa.

A special thanks to our talented and dedicated Library team for an outstanding Book Week Activities and the continuous promotion of reading:

Angela Gargano, Margaret Rowland, Jane Trainor, Maddy Viner, Elisa Moore and Leigh-Anne Burns
