Shelford Winter Appeal

The 2016 Census showed 116,427 people across the country were without a safe, secure place to sleep at night. Homelessness goes beyond those who we see sleeping on the streets or in their cars – in fact these people who were rough sleeping only made up 7% of the 116,000 people who were homeless on Census night five years ago.

Our Year 11 students are focusing on a schoolwide program that provides our community with a range of opportunities to learn about homelessness in Victoria and take action to support our most vulnerable community members. We acknowledge and appreciate that this is an incredibly tough time for all and we hope that no matter how big or small, everyone can contribute in some way to make a difference.

How can you help?

From Monday 23–Friday 27 August help us make a difference by:

  • collecting clothing that is in good condition for our Clothing Drive
  • donating a warm winter coat to our Winter Coat Appeal
  • collecting non-perishable food items and toiletries for our food drive
  • encouraging friends and family to help you raise funds for Sleeping Bags for homelessness
  • purchasing raffle tickets for our fundraising drive
  • learning about the issues surrounding homelessness in Victoria and a range incredible support services in place.

Further details will be posted on Shelly in the Service Learning pages.
