Student Leadership

Student Voice and Advocacy

The Student Voice and Advocacy Team (SVA) are a group of students across all year levels, with the aim to inspire and ensure that students' voices are heard across all aspects of school, including the classroom. We contribute the students' perspective in the decisions made by staff that affect what we learn. We work with teachers to improve the curriculum, so that it reflects the current values of the students.

This year the team has had input in the structure of Personal Learning (PL), aiming to make the experience more enjoyable and rewarding for the students. With this in mind, we are preparing to send out short feedback forms to years 7,8 and 9 to get insight into what students have enjoyed about their experience with the program, as well as how it can be improved for the near future. We would really appreciate it if students could take the time to fill this out to provide their thoughts on different aspects of PL, which will shape what they learn.

The SVA team will also be involved in activities that are occurring in Health and PE’s Love your Body Week, held in week 10 of this term. We will be running a positive affirmation board where students are encouraged to share positive thoughts, quotes or pictures throughout the week. Furthermore, Thursday at lunch time, we will be running a mindfulness jar activity, where students can decorate a jar for themselves and add positive affirmations inside. We would love to see everyone there.

Please contact us at studentvoice@mgsc.vic.edu.au if you ever have any feedback or suggestions on the curriculum or other matters within the school.
