Work Experience Placement and Careers News

Spotlight on Work Experience

The Year 11 and 12 Career and Enterprise students have just commenced their second work experience placement of the academic session. The program is designed to provide an insight into industries and career pathways that students may be interested in pursuing in the future. Work experience also helps students gain an understanding of the work environment and employer expectations, as well as providing increased independence, and self-confidence.

The College also supports a number of students completing school-based Traineeships in a variety of organisations including; Hungry Jacks, City Beach, Belmont Oasis Leisure Centre, Water Corporation, and Exal Group.

Highlights of some of this year’s first work experience placements include:

Zach Hale (Year 11) is completing a school-based Traineeship at Rusty Gate Design and Print. He said the highlight of his work placement has been “learning new skills on the job whilst gaining a certificate qualification”

Year 12 student Kym Dela Cruz described her work placement at Chandelabra Weddings and Events as “a great and enjoyable business experience where I have gained valuable transferable skills, it has really helped me with making decisions about my future career pathways”

Shamoon Jehangiri (Year 12) completed his work placement at Woolworths. A highlight for him was completing a variety of merchandising tasks both on the shop floor and within the warehouse facility.

The Year 10 Career and Enterprise students are preparing to complete their first week-long work experience at the start of next term (Monday 17 July to Friday 21 July). There are a range of employer placements that have been offered, including; Myer, Pan Pacific, Zenith Energy, Crane Worldwide Logistics, Pet Magic, ADCO and St John of God Hospital.

The Work Preparation Team work hard to provide students with the best work experiences. They are extremely grateful to local businesses for supporting the program.

If any parent or guardian and their organisation could offer work placement opportunities or would like further information please do get in touch: wpl@norbert.wa.edu.au

Careers Expo – Wednesday, 21 June 2023

Last week we held the annual St Norbert Careers Expo, hosting a range of exhibitors from training organisations and industry groups. Students had the opportunity to speak to specialists from each of these organisations, collect information and start pondering possibilities for their future.

Subject Selection

This week marks the start of Subject Selection for Year 10 and 11 students.  This is an important time for individuals as they plan the next steps of their educational journey.  Subject Selection resources and handbooks can all be found on the Subject Selection portal, located at the SEQTA Welcome page.  I encourage all parents and students to browse this page and read through relevant information.

To assist with this process, I have also created a list of useful links which can be accessed via:
