Last week St Norbert College was well represented in the Term 2 SASJ Sport Finals. The competition was conducted throughout Term 2 for Years 7-10. The competition included some positive results against schools such as:
The following teams went into the finals match up against the top teams in the SASJ West Competition. The Winner is crowned the Champion of SASJ Sport.

In a thrilling display of skill and determination, both the Year 7 SASJ Boys Basketball Team and the Year 8/9 Basketball Team showcased their talent in the SASJ Grand Finals. These young athletes left no stone unturned as they battled against formidable opponents, leaving a lasting impression on the court.
The Year 7 SASJ Boys Basketball Team faced off against Kennedy College at the Kennedy venue. Led by their standout players Zane Hunt, Viraaj Thind, and Harper Kacimaiwai, the team delivered an exceptional performance. With their impressive agility, shooting prowess, and teamwork, they left spectators in awe. Their unwavering determination and ability to rise to the occasion made for an exhilarating match.
Meanwhile, the Year 8/9 Basketball Team travelled to Emmanuel College, where they clashed with an immensely talented adversary. Undeterred by the challenge, this team showcased their skills and fought valiantly until the final buzzer. Andre Dweh, Anthony Flores, and Zac Foo emerged as the standout players of the match, demonstrating their exceptional basketball abilities and leadership on the court. Their agility, strategic plays, and incredible teamwork contributed to an intense and memorable game.
Both teams exemplified the spirit of sportsmanship and displayed remarkable athleticism throughout the grand finals. Their dedication to the sport and commitment to their respective teams shone brightly as they battled it out for the ultimate victory. These young athletes undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the basketball court, showcasing their potential and setting a promising trajectory for their future endeavors in the sport.
The SASJ Grand Finals served as a testament to the talent and passion these young athletes possess. Regardless of the outcome, their exceptional performances and sportsmanship will be remembered as a source of inspiration for years to come. The future looks bright for both the Year 7 SASJ Boys Basketball Team and the Year 8/9 Basketball Team as they continue to hone their skills and strive for greatness on the basketball court.
We are delighted to announce the remarkable achievements of two outstanding students from our school, Reece Anticevic (Year 9) and Hayden Price (Year 10). Both students have been selected to represent our state in basketball, and their dedication and talent have earned them well-deserved recognition.
Reece Anticevic, has been chosen to join the Western Australia State U16 Girls Aus Championship team. The competition will be held in Perth from July 1 to July 9. Reece's exceptional skills and hard work throughout the year have truly paid off. Notably, she emerged victorious in the SASJ Junior Basketball and ACC Junior Basketball tournaments, where her exceptional performance earned her the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title. We are incredibly proud of Reece and wish her the best of luck in the upcoming championship!
Hayden Price, has been selected to represent our state in the State School Boys Under 16's basketball team. Hayden has had an outstanding year, showcasing his talent and dedication to the sport. He has been an essential member of our senior boys' basketball team, consistently delivering exceptional performances. In addition, Hayden has actively participated in 10 SASJ events, displaying his passion and commitment to basketball. We congratulate Hayden on his selection and commend him for his hard work and achievements.
As a school, we take great pride in nurturing and supporting our students' talents, and Reece and Hayden are shining examples of this. Their dedication, perseverance, and outstanding performances have made them true role models for their peers. We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to both Reece and Hayden for their well-deserved selections. We assure them that our entire school community will be closely following their journey, cheering them on with great enthusiasm and support.
We are confident that Reece and Hayden will represent not only our school but also our state with the utmost pride and sportsmanship. Their achievements reflect the exceptional talent and dedication within our student body, and we couldn't be more proud.

Our congratulations goes out to Chad Giles (Year 9). He has been selected to represent Western Australia in the 2023 Touch Football 15s boys Championship. This team will be competing at the School Sport Australia National Championships in Darwin, NT from Sunday 13 August - Friday 18 August 2023.
State representation is an honour and often represents a significant stepping stone in the ultimate achievement of senior and national selection. School Sport WA works very closely with State and National Sporting Organisations to ensure that school sport forms a significant part in the sequential development of the school student. We wish Chad the best of luck.
