Inter-school Soccer Girls Tournament

The Inter School Soccer Girls Tournament was played on Thursday 1st of June. The Girls had some outstanding team spirit lead by the captain - Audrey Chiavaroli who led her team to victory in the first 3 games! The girls were unlucky to lose 2 0 in the final game. Well done to all on the wonderful sportsmanship shown on the day!

Basketball

The Senior Boys and Girls basketball teams went out to compete on Monday of the last week of term. The teams represented the school proudly and played with high spirits and team morale. The boys only lost one game for the day (by 4 points) finishing third and the girls also made the third placing match.

Aaron Harman and Ana Moala were the team MVP's for the day but all players were incredible. Thank you also to Lucas Hogan, who helped coach for the day. Mr Hand and Mr Kelly were very impressed by the students' attitude and efforts and thoroughly enjoyed taking the students out for sport. Well done students.

Celebrating SCHS student success with the Young Adas writing competition

We’re very proud of our six fabulous writers who were shortlisted in the Young Adas writing competition, which is run by the Williamstown Literary Festival:

Sai Hansika Chenna

Harguan Kaur

Aleena Kayani

Melany Nguyen

Syazwana Saifudin

Siya Gauri Singh

The shortlist of ten was drawn from 92 submissions from 20 different schools in the western suburbs. Our students’ writing was impressively varied, including moving stories about friendship and young love, a fast-paced story about a dramatic flood, another set in a fantasy world, a creative account charting a lightsensitive episode, and a thoughtful First World War tale.

Syazwana Saifudin’s story ‘My Grandmother’s Soldier’ was Runner-up in the competition; Sai Hansika Chenna was Highly Commended and Harguan Kaur and Siya Gauri Singh were Commended.

The awards were presented at a ceremony on Saturday 17 June in the Williamstown Town Hall. All of the stories are published in the Award Anthology, and a copy will be available in the School Library.
