Term 1 Inquiry Units

Here is an overview of the Inquiry units that students will be delving into this term -

 

Prep Inquiry: Healthy Me, My family and I

We will be learning:

 that families can be different to our own

 people in our families have different titles

 we can have different celebrations in our families

 to identify our emotions

 to express when we are feeling sad/happy/worried/nervous with the people we trust.

 

Year 1/2 Inquiry: Healthy Mind, Healthy Body

The students will participate in activities to develop the following understandings:

 We need to keep our bodies healthy on the inside and outside.

 We can make choices for a healthy body.

 We can identify the emotions we are feeling and developing appropriate

coping strategies.

 

Year 3/4 Inquiry: Amazing Australia

Students will participate in activities to develop the following understandings:

 Describing the significance of Australian celebrations, symbols and emblems.

 Significant events in Australia’s history.

 What life was like for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

 

Year 5/6 Inquiry: Environmental Challenges

We will investigate the impact of geographical events on the environment in order to develop the following understandings:

 Geographical challenges across the globe have similarities and differences to our local situation.

 We need to consider the ethical issues around global problems and possible solutions.

 Bushfires and floods affect the environment and communities.
