Community Art Project

For God IS With Us

In the Bible, we read this "Don't be afraid, for I am with you.  Don't be discouraged, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you.  I will hold you up with my victorious right hand."

Isaiah 41:10

This week at Curiosity, the 'superbug' has been getting a little traction in conversations amongst our little friends.  In some countries (Turkmenistan in particular - Google it) the Big C (coronavirus) is now a banned word.  We certainly haven't taken their approach at Curiosity but are very aware that our children have varied degrees of understanding about the current situation and some are blissfully continuing to go about their days exploring with their friends.

A conversation on Monday with our children has sparked a Community Project that we would love you to be part of.  We are encouraged to not be afraid during these times but turn to God and as we do He will strengthen and uphold us - it's one of his amazing promises to us.  In this though we are still 'charged' with the responsibility to bring love, peace and joy to each others lives.

The children shared about some things that they might be worried about.  Things that didn't make sense, some related to the Big C and others about the daily things such as my dog is sick or I have a scratch and it hurts.  We encouraged the children to then think about an image in their head that would help to take those worried feelings away and this brought our project to LIFE!

Throughout the week, children have been printing their hands, drawing their images that bring them peace and then we have been curating these into artworks to display out the front of our Centre.

We want our friends at home to be part of our project too!  Here's how you can join us.

1.  Ask your child, what is something that makes you feel safe and or happy.

2.  Supply them with an A4 piece of paper and ask them to draw or paint it.

3.  If you are able to, scan it and email it to:  jacqui.gliddon@gspv.sa.edu.au

4.  If you are unable to scan it and are able to, we will have our post box at the front door of the ELC for you to drop it off to us.

5.  We will then curate it for your child and begin to build our message of gratitude and love to the community.

We can not wait to see what the children create for this project.  If you would like to send something through yourself feel free to add your artwork to our project.
