Waverley Monash Division Cross Country
Today, Wednesday 5 June, 8 of our female students ran at Jell’s Park, Wheeler’s Hill in the Waverley Monash Division Cross Country. These girls competed against 40-60 students in their respective age groups and represented our school and our Wellington District proudly.
The course was slightly muddy, however the track was all on a asphalt path which made it easier to follow. The track looped around a large lake and over a bridge which was exciting and something new to experience. Achoul showed the most wonderful sportsmanship when she stopped running to support another competitor from our District who was crying. Our students should be very proud of their efforts, it's amazing to have the opportunity to run at this level. So well done Achoul, Charlotte, Crystal, Jade, Olivia, Heather, Ovindee and Chloe!
Another special mention must go to Achoul (12 years) and Jade (11 years) who both placed 14th. They are considered reserves in their age groups for the Eastern Metropolitan Region Cross Country! We will keep the school community informed if these girls are called upon to compete for our Division in the upcoming weeks.
Active Lunch Clubs
The sport and house captains are still running active lunch clubs for the remainder of this term on Tuesdays for Preps, Wednesdays for Year 1/2 and Thursdays for Year 3/4 during the first half of lunch. We encourage students to join in and try badminton, AFL and netball and to stay active this Winter. Year 5/6 students can join in any day and assist the captains in teaching skills to our younger students.
