Active Travel Launch

Active Travel to School Launch Day:
Friday, 23rd. March 2018
Get on your bike or scooter, or just head out on foot, to make our Active Travel to School Day a great success! We will have special Marshalls at various points along the paths to stamp our participants as they come through check points so they can earn points for their Sports team and also earn their wrist band for active travel. We hope that parents and younger siblings will also add to our points tally for the day.
On arrival at school we will have some fruit available.
We are having a special assembly in the hall at 9am and this will be attended by the Wyndham Council Mayor, Travel co-ordinator for the Council and the Active Travel team.
We hope that many parents will be able to join us as well to celebrate the beginning of a community focus on active travel.
We have been a part of the Active Travel to School Process for the last 12 months and preparations have been underway for us to launch our Active Travel Program.
Wyndham Council with Active Travel have identified our key travel to school pathways and we will be initiating 'Drop and Go' points along these pathways to encourage families to drop children off away from the school and scoot, bike or walk the remaining distance to school.
What do our families and students get out of this?
We get healthier, more alert students arriving at school at the beginning of the day because they have had some exercise. We have a reduced traffic backlog as parents approach school to drop of their children and we have a bike and scooter area that is full of bikes and scooters and a car park that is empty!!
