Foundation Unit

Tabloid Sports Day

The Foundation class rooms were a sea of red, blue, yellow and green last Wednesday, as they eagerly waited to commence their very first Tabloid Sports Day. Beginning the day with a school assembly (and with some healthy heckling once inside!) students were reminded of the Woodend Primary School pledge, to encourage, support and enjoy this day of competition. Led by Mr Spilstead and the House Leaders, the Foundation students were placed in their House teams for the day. They excitedly participated in activities such as dress ups, bowling and pony games, where they accumulated points, not only for success in the games themselves, but for demonstrating their house spirit. As teams moved through the games, it was wonderful to hear the encouragement that the House’s teams gave one another, and the support given to the Foundation student by the older students, some whom were a little overwhelmed to begin with. It was a day of participation, belonging, laughs and lots of fun. The Foundation Units were well and truly exhausted by the end, but thoroughly enjoyed such a fabulous day. Thank you Mrs Mann, and her mighty team, for organizing such a successful day!

  • I really enjoyed doing the hula hoop game because there was funny music and it was lots of fun! Josseline
  • I liked playing the lazer game because I was with my friends and Preps could get through easily! Lucian
  • The hula hoop game was my favourite because it was tricky getting through the hula hoops and I really liked helping people get through them. Lucy
  • I really liked dressing up in my favourite colour red and I liked doing the gumboot throwing with Edward in MU1. Evie
  • I liked doing the game where you had to balance the ball with a partner without dropping the ball. There were people who helped us to not drop the ball on the ground. Aidan
