Principal's Update

We continue to see our students demonstrate the CORE values of curiosity, optimism, respect and excellence. The student leadership team is one example of this and it has now been finalised. It was wonderful to see so many students willing to put their hand up to be leaders. We empower our students to adapt to a constantly changing world. We actively promote participation and shared decision making.

Uniform Update

Students should be in winter uniform as we move into the cooler weather in Term 2. All students should travel to and from school with their blazers unless they are in sports uniform. Blazers and sports jackets will be available for purchase from Bob Stewart from April 9th onwards. This is the second week of the holidays. Please organize to have these uniform items as students are feeling the chill of the colder weather already.

Parent Payments

We would like to thank all the families that have made payments to ensure programs can run effectively. We would like to remind families that have not yet contacted the office to do so to set up payment asap.

We have carefully considered the items that are listed in the parent payments. Essential Student Learning Items are those items, activities or services that are essential to support student learning of the standard curriculum. These are items that the school considers essential for all students and which students take possession of. Parents may choose to provide the items themselves or buy the items from the school where practical and appropriate.

Optional Items are those items, activities or services that are offered in addition to or support instruction in the standard curriculum program. These are provided on a user-pays basis so that if parents choose to access them for students, they are required to pay for them.

As we have a number of excursions/incursions planned, payments will need to be up to date in order to provide approval for your son or daughter to attend. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Your contribution enables us to offer a more creative, more inspiring school education that will extend your child far beyond the standard curriculum. We look forward to being able to offer your child an innovative and challenging educational program in our outstanding new facility.

COMPASS

Parents should now have access to Compass and be able to directly communicate with the school and enter absences and lates. Teachers have also begun to use Learning Tasks to assign home learning for students.

Staffing Update

We would like to welcome our Wellbeing Coordinator, Dilek Yucel, to our team. Dilek is a trained psychologist, with over 20 years experience working with young people in schools. Dilek will be leading the development of the curriculum for the GOAL sessions.

Building and Grounds

The main building which will be called the Learning Hub is moving forward in leaps and bounds. The builders are working hard with over 100 tradespeople on-site daily to get it completed on time. The siding and the last of the glazing have arrived which will give the externals of the building a more finished look. It is exciting to see all the spaces take shape. We will provide updates as we get closer to the completion date.

Community Connections

Steve Pearce and I met with Bendigo Bank to discuss our ongoing connections. They have provided the students with showbags which they will be given on Tuesday March 20th. Please check them out with your son or daughter. RMGC was successful in bid to redevelop the public golf course and create a golf precinct working closely with Golf Victoria. We will be offering a golf program as part of our Tuesday Sport program for all students next term and are continuing to discuss the development of an Enhanced Golf program for our passionate golfers.

I was invited by Jill Robinson, Friends of Bayside Support Officer to speak at the next group meeting which I did on February 26th. It provided an opportunity to build relationships and organize opportunities for our students to work with the groups on the local environment and wildlife needs.
