Year 7 Basketball – Regional Finals at Coburg Stadium
The Melbourne Girls’ College Year 7 Basketball Team made it to the Northern Region Basketball Finals. I had the privilege to coach these wonderful and talented group of girls with Maddie Ledger and Mr. Torey. Even though we didn’t make it to State, I still felt it was a very successful day because the girls showed great teamwork and it was clear they had made progress in their development as athletes both through skill and sportsmanship. I am so very happy that I was chosen to help coach them because of what I could teach them, but also it helped my leadership skills and helped become a better team player working with Maddie as well. Overall it was an exciting day and I wish the girls all the best for any future sports they might pursue … see you all in year 8 Basketball.

My Greatest Chef – Year 8s take the cake!!
Lunch-time on Monday 26th October saw the Year 8s compete in the challenge for the title of My Greatest Chef for Term 4! Eighteen students from across all Year 8 classes were drawn out by lucky-dip from the many applicants to be the successful challenging chefs.
This time the girls were set the task of using their creativity and design flair to ice and decorate a range of cupcakes in the short time frame available. MCs Alex Vivian and Sienna Burns Bradley interviewed contestants as they iced, watched on by an enthusiastic and supportive crowd of audience members.
The participants included Min Marriott and Shi Lei Lenga Rouse, Jess Shine and Erin Cotton, Abby Jensen and Amy Spinks, Georgia Wolfe and Millie Sweeney, Victoria Davila and Carla Grahn, Ella Paull and Miranda Moloney, Eliza Reed and Paris Altheimer, Sophie Varney and Nina Ta, and Sandra Byrne and Annabella Camera. All girls did themselves and their Houses proud by producing colourfully decorative delights, with Chief Judges Ms. Hajzler and Mr. Orphin and their team of audience-selected assistants choosing the winning prizes to go to Min and Shi Lei, closely followed by Jess and Erin, and Abby and Amy!!
Mrs. Stubbs and Ms. Blackburn would like to congratulate all the many participants who were involved and earned points for their Houses, and especially Min and Shi Lei, who are now My Greatest Chefs!!
