Hello everyone, here is a message from Mick Geary – BCHS CEO about the Department of Health and Human Services’ expanding testing program to better understand the spread in the community.

Dear All,

As you will be well aware there are some key public health initiatives that are supporting the crucial messaging regarding COVID 19. I just want to reiterate 3 key areas.

  1. The Federal Government has released the Covid Safe APP.  I have downloaded the APP to help protect my family and the broader community.  I encourage you to do likewise and share this with your clients, friends and family.

  1. The State Government has established a number of mobile drive-through testing clinics.  These are in a number of locations throughout Victoria, including Northland Shopping Centre and Greensborough Plaza.  Austin Health also has a testing clinic.

  1. Banyule Community Health is partnering with Austin Health to run a COVID asymptomatic screening clinic this coming Friday 8th May at our West Heidelberg site from 8.30am – 4pm.  This will target vulnerable community members and Banyule Community Health staff.  Please let any vulnerable clients know of the screening clinic and to bring a Medicare Card.  Social distancing measures will be in place throughout the clinic.  Staff who are off site on Friday are encouraged to attend the screening clinic.

Please find attached three documents with some simple information regarding Friday’s asymptomatic clinic.  Please use this information to promote this drop in clinic to our clients.  It’s a great opportunity for us to better understand the spread.

Stay vigilant,

Michael Geary
