State School Spectacular
On Saturday September 12th, after months of rehearsing and two full-day dress runs, a group of 15 students performed in front of thousands at Hisense Arena. The Victorian State School Spectacular celebrated its 20th anniversary this year with the theme "What's your story?" celebrating the role of storytelling in our lives.
This opportunity allows students to experience what it is like to perform on a live stage with three thousand other performers including circus performers and puppeteers. Their routines were truly spectacular, with students showing an enthusiasm and passion for the performing arts that was fantastic to witness. All students managed to find the energy for two three hour shows, performing a total of 16 dance numbers by the end of the final show. We are very proud of all students who dedicated so much time and effort to putting on a fantastic show.
It was also great to see one of our own, Amy Pender, involved in leading the mass choir. I would also like to thank Briana Irvine for coming along to all three rehearsals to help organise costumes and our performers.
A huge congratulations to the following members of our mass dance troupe: Jordyn Boyle, Sarah Coats, Tiffany Dinnington, Adele Hall, Jasmine Hall, Tara Hillam, Layla Klein, Riley Nicholls, Ashley Pender, Debbie Tamme, Brooke Tomkins, Connor West, Emma Wied, Jennifer Vo.
Production Make Up
Over the past 2 months a team of very talented students have been working hard to create make up designs of monsters, vampires and a range of different characters. Jordyn Boyle, Linh Pham, Tameka Jones, Sophie Holloway and Ellaizah Turin have been led by Tiffany Dinnington through the process of design to create realistic representations of characters.
To start the process, the team met with Bianca Dinardo, a qualified beauty therapist, Ms Smith and myself weekly to discuss and hand draw character features. Since then the crew have worked tirelessly to perfect these designs using each other as models.
We are all looking forward to seeing our work under the stage lights at the this weeks production of Bats.
