Principal's Report

Bruce Churchward
Term 3 has been a really busy term, we have had the following events in addition to the normal educational program:
· Junior Literacy Carnival
· Athletics Sports
· State School Spectacular
· School Production
· KIOSC excursions
· Interschool Sport
· Numerous subject excursions
· VCAL Arrabri Gardens improvement project
These sorts of programs bring learning alive and enable students to both put into practice the skills they have learnt and enhance their learning with real world experiences. There is a lot of hard work and dedication that takes place to ensure these activities are a success, thank you to everyone who has a played a part in the organisation, participation and success.
Good Luck to our Year 12 students
Our year 12 VCE students have finished their courses and are now in revision mode. They are making great use of ‘Edrolo’ to compliment the efforts of their class teachers. Exams will start in early term 4 and the hard work and dedication they put in before the exams will have a significant impact. I wish them well for their exams. For our year 12 students the upcoming term break is not a holiday but a study break! Our year 12 VCAL students are finishing off their commitments and ensuring that they have met all the required competencies so they can gain their year 12 certificate.
College improvements
During the last 2 weeks the Junior toilets have undergone a renovation. The Junior students played a major role in both identifying what needed to be done and what colour they should be painted. They are certainly bright and welcoming. The final result is that these toilets are now at the standard that we should be providing for our students. In the holidays the ECA centre change rooms will undergo a similar renovation.
Uniform
Whilst the majority of students wear our uniform correctly there are a number of students who are not consistently in full school uniform. I request that those students take the school holidays to ensure that they are in full school uniform for the start of term 4. As always if you need assistance with uniform please contact a member of the well-being team. There will be an additional item added to the school uniform for 2016.
Interim reports
By now all families should have received the interim reports for their children. If for any reason you have not received the report then please contact your child’s mentor teacher. I encourage you to reflect on the report and either continue with the good work habits or make the required changes. These holidays are a great opportunity for all students to ensure that they are totally up to date in all subjects for the start of term 4.
Farewell
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support this term. It has been a term of change and many things have been happening and I have been gratified by the positive feedback about the changes. I am confident that the new Principal will continue to make a positive impact on the Bayswater community. I have really enjoyed this term at Bayswater Secondary College and wish everybody well on their learning journey and trust that all students will experience positive outcomes.
