Road Safety

We have had recent communication from local bus companies who are concerned about some behaviours of our parents and children in the bus area. Specifically the concerns relate to :

* Parents and children crossing Gwydir Street in the morning and afternoons and not using the crossings provided, walking between and in front of heavy vehicles. While drivers make every endeavour to ensure there is nobody about when stopping and pulling away, these vehicles have many blind spots which at times make extremely difficult to spot small objects.

* Drivers have also observed that children who are using the crossings – especially those who are cycling to school, are not stopping before crossing to observe passing traffic. With Gwydir Street having heavy traffic flow especially in the morning, this is also of great concern. Please remind your child of safe practices when walking or riding to school.
