Carroll House Report

Term 3 has proved to be another exciting term for Carroll House full of smiles, comradery and many fun events. The first day of the term was a cold one, however a cup or two of hot chocolate soon warmed up the hands of Carroll House members in what was a great gathering to kick-start the term.

As always there’s been plenty of exciting activities happening during our morning Homegroup, from competitive handball to intense board games, from trivia to planning lunches. Homegroups in Carroll House continue to build a great sense of community with activities that promote our House unity. For our senior students Homegroup has been a significant part of their daily lives at Mater Dei Catholic College for the previous 6 years. Here is what some of our Year 12 students had to say about their Homegroup…

Carroll 1 - Sharnie Deveraux “I love being a part of my Homegroup community, it is like a 2nd family to me”

Kipper Lindner “A great community to be a part of every morning.” Carroll 2

Ellen Briggs “Starts off the day great, putting a smile on my face” Carroll 3

Kelsie Savage “A great place full of great people. WOOOO CARROLL 4” Carroll 4

Nick McCormack “I love coming to school and seeing the friendly smiling faces of Carroll House” Carroll 4

Kaid Lawson “It’s great coming to school and being welcomed into a family environment everyday” Carroll 7

Within Carroll House there are many students who excel in their after school extra-curricular activities. Lydia Grigg and Carly Salmon are two prime examples of dedicated and extremely talented members of Carroll House. Lydia Grigg this year was awarded 2nd in Australia for her Advanced 2 Ballet Exam, while our star athlete Carly Salmon recently came away runner-up for the 2015 “NSW Athletics Most Outstanding Junior Para-Athlete of the Year” award. We, as Carroll House, would like to commend these two girls for their outstanding efforts!

We also had the opportunity to farewell the Year 12 students with a Carroll House BBQ lunch. The Year 12 students cooked up an amazing feast of sausages and hamburgers. We would like to say thank you to the Year 11 students who served the students of Carroll House.

As privileged 2015 Carroll House Captains, we have thoroughly enjoyed our role of leading such a lively and community orientated House, following the insightful guidance of our House Leader Mrs Baggio. We would like to thank Mrs Baggio for the ongoing support and hard work she has provided us and all of Carroll House over the past year. As captains we are saddened to be leaving, but we know Carroll House holds a promising potential to achieve great things in times ahead. Go Carroll

House!
