Performance Music

This term has been extremely busy. As well as classroom music, private instrumental lessons, co-curricular ensembles, we’ve had a number of performances. Our Stage Band and Choir have both performed on separate occasions at College Assemblies and our School Mass Band was an essential part of the Assumption Day Mass, which was also attended by Mater Dei Primary School.

Last week the Mater Dei Stage Band, Concert Band, String Ensemble, and Choir all competed at the Wagga Eisteddfod. All ensembles faced talented musicians from numerous other schools within the Riverina, as well as a large team travelling from Daramalan College in Canberra. The results from the eisteddfod include a 1st, a 2nd, and 2 Highly Commended, with Stage Band continuing their domination of the “Jazz Band” section.

If students would like to start lessons on a musical instrument, enrolment forms can be obtained from Ms Hall or Mr Saxon in the Music Office. Each of the school music ensembles is continuously recruiting for new members so any enquiries can be directed towards Mrs Hall or any of the other Creative Arts staff.
