Pastoral Care and Wellbeing

Yesterday, Thursday 10 September,  we celebrated National R U OK Day.

One in five Australians will suffer a Mental Illness in their lives. To create awareness and reduce the stigma associated with Mental Illness, we invited staff and students to wear a yellow accessory. There was a cake stall at Recess and a stall led by our Wellbeing Practitioner; Louise de Bruin, where students learnt more about Mental Health and wrote positive messages. Conversation spots were signified by balloons around the College with cards attached to start a positive conversation. Thank you to all the staff and students who contributed to the day.

As we approach the end of Term 3 we begin to prepare for the final week of classes for Year 12 2015 and start to prepare our Year 11 students for their roles as leaders of the College.

Today Year 11 participated in their Leadership Day. All House Leaders along with the College Leadership Team ran a variety of workshops and leadership activities for these students. There was an opportunity for our current Student Leaders to share some insights and pass on words of advice.  Students were given the message that although they may not have a formal leadership role, all of them are student leaders of our College and will be able to display their leadership in a variety of ways.

College and House Captain applications for 2016 have now closed. At the Leadership Day today, College Captain applicants presented their Leadership Application and Leadership Profile to their peers, House Leaders and the College Leadership Team.  House Captain applicants will present their Leadership Profile to students on Tuesday morning, prior to students voting for their preferred leaders.

The Year 12 Final Assembly is on Thursday 17 September. The day will begin with a Year 12 Breakfast at 8.15am at the College Café. Year 12 Parents are invited to attend the Assembly and will need to be seated in the Hall by 11.30am.  It is at the College Assembly that our 2015 Captains will hand over their leadership roles to the newly appointed House and College Captains.

We look forward to celebrating the contributions each of our Year 12 students have made and wishing them well as they approach this significant milestone and head towards post-school life.

I encourage all students to work hard and finish the term on a high. A reminder that next term students are expected to be in full summer uniform. Some information about the uniform shop can be found below.
