Student & School Community Achievements

Principal's Update

Welcome to the new school year. Whilst we started with a few additional restrictions, we have still been able to offer plenty of opportunities for students to get involved. Our leadership teams are well underway and busy organising events and campaigns. Our SRC, Prefects, First Nations Leadership Group and Student Environmental Activists will all be involved in activities this term related to International Women's Day, Harmony Day and student mentoring programs. I am also looking forward to inducting our newest members of the SRC at the end if this week.

All of our music and performing arts programs are up and running and we are gradually expanding co-curricular programs in other areas. I would like to acknowledge and thank the team from Deloitte who worked with our students last year throughout lockdown to complete the AI Program- this was an exciting new initiative for STEM learning and our students and staff enjoyed the learning and resources immensely.

Our new year 7 students are settling in well and had their first experience of moving around the school as a whole this week. I am sure they are enjoying getting to know the science labs, technology and performing arts spaces. It has been especially lovely for me as I get to see more students than ever as they pass my door between lessons and often stop to say hello.

This year, the school plan continues to progress with the three areas of focus: Student Growth and Attainment through the application of universal teaching strategies for differentiation; Future Focused Pedagogies with insights into learning capabilities frameworks; and Learning and Wellbeing Systems with a focus on the renovation of the personal best time and the provision of additional strategies designed to boost resilience and student wellbeing. We will keep the school community updated on our progress in these areas.

To all of our new families in 2022, a special welcome to the Canterbury Girls' High School community. I look forward to meeting you throughout the year.
