From St Mary's Parish

Message from the Parish - Fr Jerome Saintamaria

Dear Families,

Welcome back!

I pray everyone got something of a break over the summer holidays. My brother managed to bring his family across from the UK for Christmas. This was a reminder of the great joy of being together, but also of the incredible cost we have all paid over the last couple of years.

At the Parish, we are seeing a huge number of couples who have had to delay their marriage finally getting the chance to proceed. So, there have been many joyful occasions already since Christmas. We pray these continue.

We are also blessed to see the first use of our new classrooms. Again, I would like to thank Cathy and the staff and of course our students for making the best of a challenging last year. Now, we can enjoy the fruits of that hard work (not least of our wonderful builders).

Over the course of the year, we will be looking for opportunities to gather. This is not only important for the parish community, it is also important for our neighbours. Our parish must work hard to be a place of welcome for those without a community. We must be a light for those who feel they are in the dark. We can do this by finding and celebrating God’s light in each other. Let’s pray for eyes to see God’s graces in our families and in our neighbours, and never miss an opportunity to say thank you and to celebrate those around us.

God bless for 2022.

Fr Jerome Santamaria
