To accommodate for unpredictable weather as the seasons cross over, students may wear either their full winter uniform or their full summer uniform from Tuesday of Week 10, Term 3, until Friday of Week 1, Term 4.

The Didjeribone Show

On Friday 19th August Year 7 students were treated to a performance by indigenous artist Tjupurru, a touring artist from Queensland who has invented his own unique version of the didgeridoo, called the Didjeribone. This instrument is able to change pitch and can be played in different keys. Tjupurru created a range of atmospheric sounds with the instrument, and also used it to play tunes and bass lines, such as Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’, the national anthem and even some ACDC.

Tjupurru also told some humorous anecdotes throughout the show, entertaining students with his unique sense of humour.

Centre Stage

On Thursday, the 1st of September, Endeavour College had their annual Centre Stage concert. It was held in the Senior Years Centre, which was an excellent venue. This concert was a great opportunity for our music students to perform the music they had been rehearsing for the past term.

The night kicked off with the Year 9 Band playing the Swing band piece Zoot Suit Riot, followed by the Year 10 Trio who performed the Super Mario Brothers theme. Soloist Michael Finn performed an emotive version of I Dreamed a Dream and Year 7 piano soloist Eva Yen performed a very impressive (and fast) rendition of Mozart’s Rondo Alla Turca.

Other highlights included the Year 10 Rock Band who performed Sweet Child O Mine featuring old scholar Gianna Palumbo (Class of 2017), the Big Band and the Senior Vocal Ensemble who sang an entertaining medley of songs by The Supremes.

The Show Band finished the concert with some medleys of themes from the films Ratatouille and La La Land, finishing the night with a very fast Swing number called ‘Go Down, Moses’. The night was a huge success and was thoroughly enjoyed by the performers and audience alike.

Service Learning: Knitted Blanket Squares

This term, as part of a local service activity, one group in the Year 11 Service Learning Christian Living class are knitting squares to be made into blankets for a homeless shelter. If you would like to help we need squares approximately 20cm x 20cm.  Starting with 40 stitches is about right. Please bring them to Student Services and we'll sew them into our blanket.

Here are some pictures of us working at lunchtime and in class time.

Thank you in advance for supporting this service learning activity.

Jasmine Crisp visits Senior Art Students

Our senior art class had the absolute pleasure of welcoming popular Adelaide artist Jasmine Crisp into the classroom recently. Jasmine spoke to our students about the career opportunities within the art realm and also uncovered further tips and tricks within portrait painting, colour exploration and concept creation. Students were blown away watching her paint and talk, in awe of her talent and knowledge. Jasmine is best known for her large-scale murals and has held countless exhibitions both locally and internationally.

Endeavour's Got Talent

Endeavour's certainly got talent, and it was showcased on Tuesday 13 September with performances from solo artists and groups at lunchtime. We were treated to a collection of singers, gymnasts, cultural dancers and even a rock band! Congratulationsto all who blessed us with performances; it takes a lot of courage.

A special mention to Evelyn Walker and Jummi David for taking out first place as voted by our judging panel. Well done girls!

Spick & Span

There's a lot that goes into the preparation of a senior major production. There's set designs, painting, costumes, lighting, music, makeup; not to mention the countless hours in rehearsals, feeding the troops, learning lines etc. Theater has several jobs and for good reasons every job or role requires a unique set of skills.

Communication, Publicity, Front of House, Ticketing, Promotion, Prop Management, Safety on Set - all foster the smooth running of the cast and crew up to showtime!

So here's to the cast and crew of Spick and Span, who have been feverishly working at bringing their best to the stage so we get to sit back and enjoy.
