We are people that are often fascinated by mysteries.

From our society's love of drama shows, to thriller movies, to board games, we seem to enjoy tracing through timelines and discovering what might happen next.

At the same time, we are all people who also like predictability in our own life.

So many of us have the same thing for breakfast, or perhaps not have breakfast. We get coffee from our favourite coffee shop, like to talk (or not talk) to the same barista, arrive to work at the same time every day (whether running late or not), sit with the same people at lunch, and watch the same shows on our favourite streaming service or TV.

It could perhaps be said that we like to observe mysteries but prefer to live in predictability

I’d like to share with you some mysteries that I’ve seen.

These mysteries are people who are suffering in life yet give joy to others. People who are poor yet are generous. People who have been abused yet are kind. People who have been hurt yet bring healing. People that were bitter but are now loving. People that should be holding grudges but are instead forgiving.

You may know people like this. You may even be someone like this.

A lot of the people who live this life hold a deeper mystery. It is the mystery of knowing Jesus in the midst of their pain, in the midst of their poverty, in the midst of their hurt. They know that Jesus did the same – willingly. Things that they wouldn’t wish on anyone, Jesus chose to embrace.

Why?

Because he loves us.

In the middle of the mysterious things in life, one thing is always predictable:

That God loves us. Always.

May you, in the complexities of life that do come your way, find the love of God to be your constant.

God bless you.
