From the Management Team

This week’s Chapel was all about change and the constancy of change. A week after the announcement of Glyn Roberts’ resignation, I find myself in a position of change. The message at Chapel was reassuring, reminding us that, despite all the change we might see and feel, that Jesus is a consistent and stable force.

I feel very humbled to be able to step into the role of Acting Principal. Having worked at the College for the last 6 years in the Deputy position, I feel like I have a good handle on our significant strengths as a College as well as the areas we still need to work on. Having worked overseas in international education for almost nine years, 12 years in Canberra and then time in country New South Wales as well as regional South Australia, I am proud of the breadth of experiences I have had in my career to date and what I can bring to the role.

I am thankful for the significant and unwavering support of my wife, who is a teacher and person I am always in awe of, as well as my two children; my son who graduated from Endeavour two years ago and who is now following an elite sporting pathway, as well as my daughter who is in Year 11. I love who my children have become and are becoming, and the positive and significant influence Endeavour has had on them both is clear.

I feel so blessed by the messages from the Board, staff, students and families of their support for me during this challenge and am genuinely thankful for the kind words of encouragement.

We have a strong and capable community, one that I am proud of. My hope is that we continue to flourish. A community is not defined by one person alone and, while the loss of any staff member is significant, we are not defined by that but rather, we are defined by our collective response and desire to move forward. Great communities come together during adversity. One statement I heard this week sums this up perfectly, “We got this Mr Pearse.”

Yes, we do.
