Principal's message

Dear Parents/Carers,

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL APPOINTMENT

Following a selection process we are pleased to announce that Danielle Toone was the successful candidate for the ongoing Assistant Principal position.

On behalf of the entire Warrnambool Primary staff and community we congratulate Danielle and wish her every success in the role.

YEAR 5/6 CAMPS- SOVEREIGN HILL

We have been blessed with fantastic weather this week for the Year 5/6 camps to Ballarat. The staff and students, along with parent helpers are having a fantastic time. They have learned an enormous amount about the history of the Ballarat Goldfields and its importance in the shaping of Victorian society.

The greatest thing about camps such as these is students learning to remove themselves from their comfort zone and get involved with others which forms lasting bonds. We look forward to hearing all of the wonderful stories upon their return and to see many photos and videos of their week. A huge thankyou to all parents for supporting this event. Our children have been deprived of many such occasions over the past two years that we need to enjoy them when they arise. A big thankyou to all staff and parents for the organisation and supervision this week.

YEAR 3/4 CAMP- ROSES GAP 30th November to 2nd December 2022 Inclusive

We were disappointed that the weather was so severe last week that we had to postpone our Year 3/4 camp. However the good news is that we are booked to attend Roses Gap from Wednesday 30th November to Friday 2nd December 2022 inclusive. Our thoughts go to those fellow Australians who are experiencing devastating floods in the North of our state and in other places. We wish them all the best during an incredibly difficult time.

REAL SCHOOLS PARENT INFORMATION BBQ & SESSION

The well-being of our students is a top priority at Warrnambool Primary School. Our vision is to provide an inclusive education, nurturing students to flourish and reach their academic, social and emotional potential. Our school values of confidence, curiosity, positivity and pride are those which we live by at Warrnambool Primary School. We encourage our students and staff to be positive people where they take notice of themselves and others; where they give of themselves; where they continue to be active in their school and community life; where they connect with each other and their school and where they develop into life-long learners. We have formed a strong partnership with ‘Real Schools’ which is a highly valued well-being program which focuses on strengthening the culture in schools. NETWORK COLLEAGUES VISIT PHONEMIC AWARENESS

This week, we had pleasure of a visit from Abby Madden and a class teacher from Grasmere Primary School to view our outstanding ‘Heggerty’s’ program in Kuj Williams Year 1 class, Ms Medro’s Year 1 class and Ms Stutchbury’s Foundation class.

The focus was to observe our student's level of participation in Heggerty's Phonemic Awareness sessions.

Our visitors were incredibly excited by the level of phonological engagement our students can complete in both year levels, as well as the natural ease of delivery, student focus and attention to their learning, desk arrangements, and focused learning displays.

A huge thank you to Cathy Gleeson, Kuj Williams, Edwina Medro, April Stutchbury and their students for welcoming our network colleagues to their classrooms. The students certainly enjoyed the very positive feedback given to them.

If you would like to know more do not hesitate to contact our fantastic staff or check out the web site below. https://heggerty.org/

SCHOOL MAINTENANCE- BRENDAN WILKINSON

We are very happy to have secured the services of Brendan Wilkinson at Warrnambool Primary to attend to minor repairs, gardening and painting duties. You may have noticed the Gym walls looking refreshed with a couple of coats of paint. It looks fantastic!

Brendan was a long serving member of staff here many years ago and it is great to have him back.

SCHOOL UNIFORM SURVEY - Have your say

School Council has opened discussions around our current school uniform. We would like to gauge the school communities thoughts and opinions. Please note that this in no way means that the uniform will definitely be changed. If this was to occur parents/carers will be provided with plenty of notice.

By clicking the link below you will open a very short quiz/ survey which only takes a few minutes.
