Principal's Report

Principal’s Report 28th October

World Teachers Day, 28th October!

All across Australia, it’s “Hats Off to Teachers!” as we celebrate World Teachers Day.

Our teachers have shown great resilience during challenging times, all so they can give our students the best future possible. Take a moment to share your “hats off” selfie to celebrate teachers, and to tell us what they mean to you. Grab your hat – beret, beanie, bucket, bowler – and create a post on social media, making sure to use #WTD2022 and @aitsl. Click here to show your support. If you’re not into selfies, how about you just send a quick message to your child’s teacher saying, “Thanks!” I know they’d really appreciate it!

APPA Conference

Next week, I’m heading off to the Australian Primary Principals Conference in Sydney. I’m looking forward to hearing some of the most respected and innovative thinkers in education and conversing with Principals from all over Australia and from all sectors of the Australian education system.

VPA Professional Learning Series

As part of my work at a system level, I’m proud to be serving on the Board of the Victorian Principals’ Association and very proud indeed to be part of their Professional Learning series, “Practice Matters”. You can watch Episode 2 here, featuring the work we do here at Lyndhurst Primary School. It’s a great opportunity to showcase our school and the great work we do here.

Staffing 2023

We are in the midst of staffing for 2023, at the moment, with a number of positions to be finalized over the coming weeks. This is always a difficult time, especially for our contract staff. Whilst there is a dramatic teacher shortage across Australia, we are confident that we will, once again, be able to staff our school with high-quality practitioners to keep our classrooms buzzing.

Short Week Next Week – Melbourne Cup Day

Don’t forget it’s a short week next week with a holiday on Tuesday for Melbourne Cup Day. Monday is a normal school day.
