Senior School

From the Head of Senior School
At the final Senior School Assembly for our Year Twelve students on Monday, our School Captain, Andrew Smith, made the following speech, his final message to the Senior School for 2022:
On the weekend I enjoyed playing a bit of golf, and every time I play, I am reminded that It’s a really hard sport. When my friend and I are both looking for our balls in the bush, I am consoled by the fact that we often find more balls than we lose, reminding me that everyone else also sucks at golf and hits it into the bush.
It has also shown me that just because something is difficult and hard, does not mean that it cannot be enjoyable. Golf is horribly difficult, and yet myself, my friends, and many other people still go and play it every weekend, because it is also a lot of fun.
I know that analogy seems kind of irrelevant, but for the final senior school assembly, I want you all to know that your last year or two years of schooling that are coming up will also be hard work, but they are also so much fun. You Year Tens and Elevens have so much to look forward to.
There will be plenty of shots where you hit the ball onto the road, about 30 metres to the left of the fairway, but you are also going to absolutely bomb some shots 270 metres down the fairway. If you just focus on that shot where you nearly hit a car, you probably are not going to enjoy yourself, but if you keep thinking about that shot you launched into geostationary orbit, you are probably going to have a good time. I guess what I am trying to say is that if you have a good attitude toward the things you do, you will have a much more enjoyable time than if you focus on the negative things.
I encourage you all to approach your last years of schooling, or whatever the next few years hold, with a good attitude and an open mindset, like if you just sent a missile down the fairway.
I would also just like to say thank you for your support over the past year, it has made my role absolute pleasure.
I hope you all have a great week and enjoy the highs and lows that every day will present to you.

Year Ten Drama - Set Building
On 4 and 5 October, during the second week of the school holidays, cast and crew of the production of The Real Inspector Hound, an absurdist who-dunnit play being performed with Spectrum Theatre by the Year Ten Drama class, met to work on set construction for this upcoming play. Lead by Miss Gunning, and joined by some super helpful parent volunteers, we spent two eight-hour days at Spectrum Theatre, working to take down the stage walls, rebuild the stage walls slightly further back, and repaint the entire thing.
The target look was a 1950s English mansion, and with some faux wood panelling, French windows, and a grand fireplace in the corner (including its very own Calcifer), it began to be achieved.
Paint fumes and Queen tunes filled the air, and we can now proudly say that the set it mostly complete.
Thank you to everyone for all their hard work, and we hope everyone will come and see the set in all its glory during the show. Tickets can be bought HERE.
