From the Deputy Principal

Buzzing towards the end

The school has been abuzz this week with farewells for our Year Twelves.  As I write I have listened to the final, rousing Wilson war cry, watched students in tears at heartfelt goodbyes and witnessed our Facilities team making ready for tomorrow's Valedictory celebrations by erecting marquees and making the grounds look amazing.  Earlier, I popped in to see the Year Twelves competing with one another for supreme knowledge of their peers in their last school Kahoot, complete with much laughter.   What I have enjoyed most about watching these and other events is the connection between our students and a sense of service to others which has sprung from working together as a community to make this special event happen.  Our Year Elevens have generously offered their time to help with car parking and ushering, our Year Tens have created menus and signage, our boarders will help with set up and pack down tomorrow, we are hanging banners designed and made (hand stitched) by parents and community members.  At the end of the assembly we will farewell our Year Twelves by forming a guard of honour.  It is times like this that I am reminded about the power of community and connection.  I hope our Year Twelves will remember they are always welcome back at GSG and we look forward to hearing about their future adventures.

Primary teaching positions

The Real Inspector Hound

In a collaboration between GSG and Spectrum Theatre, we are excited to present The Real Inspector Hound.  Save the date and book tickets now (see the Arts News) for performance on 11,12 and 13 and 18, 19 and 20 November.

It is a foggy and foreboding day at Muldoon Manor. This charming, but isolated, English country house is populated by tortured and suspicious characters. A game of bridge results in raised temperatures and veiled threats; a mysterious man, possibly mad, shows up to charm the lady of the house and her young friend; and a dead body lies under the sofa, waiting to be discovered. All the while, a pair of pretentious critics comment on the action, munch chocolates, complain bitterly about their professional rivals, and ogle the attractive actresses.

In The Real Inspector Hound, Tony and Academy award-winning playwright Tom Stoppard has crafted a witty, surreal, and compelling tale in which identity is as changeable as a moustache, or a pair of boots, and a hack production of a tired whodunnit can be the cover for a masterful revenge plot, trained on the professional members of the audience.

Save the date and come along and support this local production. It is directed by staff member Miss Katie Gunning and Year Ten student Tahlia Ruffell, with a large number of GSG students performing.
