2023 Student Leadership positions

Applications are now being invited for students interested in being part of the Student Leadership program at MGSC. There are a variety of teams operating in the school including: STEAM team, Performing Arts, Environment & Sustainability, the SRC, Student Voice & Advocacy and of course, Sports & House Captains. The process involves completing a google form and attaching a statement containing a little bit about you and why you would like to be considered for a role. Following this, students may be invited to attend a brief interview with relevant staff and in most cases, a current student leader. It is important that we build on the concept of students making decision which impact the students themselves.

Most leadership positions will be finalised this year and there will be a leadership training session to be held on December 12. It is anticipated that a large group of students will attend the GRIP conference and other workshop and conference opportunities intended to build leadership capacity of students. Please contact Ms Harvey with any questions about the Student Leadership program.

Victorian Young Leaders: Global Youth Forums for Year 9 Students

Interested students from Year 9 are invited to apply to be part of the next cohort of the Victorian Young Leaders (VYL): Global Youth Forums (GYF) in 2022. A fully-funded Year 9 student opportunity from the Victorian Department of Education and Training, in partnership with Asia Education Foundation (AEF) at the University of Melbourne.

Global Youth Forums are an authentic, experiential learning program for Year 9 Victorian students to connect synchronously online with peers from a range of countries and schools across the Asia-Pacific region. This interactive, cross-curricular, three-part learning program is designed to deepen Year 9 students’ understanding of what it means to be a global citizen, culture and identity, strengthen leadership skills, general capabilities, including intercultural capability, and activate student voice and agency.

Expressions of Interest are essential and there will be a brief meeting on Friday at the start of lunch in Room 6/7 to clarify the details and answer any questions before students are able to register for the forum.
