Eclipse House News

Term Three has been fast paced, active, and enjoyable. There has been plenty of laughs, adventures, smiles and celebrations. With all this, there is also many setbacks, failures, challenges and disappointments. I remind all boys as they head away for the break, the power of the words ‘yet’. Developing the growth mindset to approach challenges with confidence. Through hard work, perseverance and determination it can be achieved. Seek support and guidance to achieve your goals.

  • I can’t do this…yet.
  • This doesn’t work…yet.
  • I don’t know…yet.
  • It doesn’t make sense…yet.
  • I don’t get it…yet.
  • I’m not good at this…yet.

For further knowledge and understanding take some time to watch this short video here over the holidays.

Country Week

With the first Country Week in two years, there was a lot of excitement and anticipation for the adventure. Well done to all boys who represented the school in Perth. I was on the receiving end of compliments and feedback from staff on how all boys represented their teams with pride and respect.

Weekend Recreation

We make the most of weekends when things are quiet by filling in time with a unscheduled recreational activity.  Canoeing and mountain bike riding are some of the activities that are quite popular.

Last Friday night, half of the Eclipse boys were in town competing at their Hockey Grand Final, so the rest of the house piled into the mini bus to go in to support them.  Spur of the moment activities are often the best.

Football and Hockey

Congratulations to all boys competing in their respective sports throughout winter. It has been great to see the passion, enjoyment and growth mindset all boys have for their sport.

Well done to the Griffins Boys Blue Hockey team for reaching the grand final and coming out victorious. Also, to Jack Carlson and Kaleb Germain for their grand final wins in their respective football teams. Special mentions also go to Jack and Kaleb. Both boys received Best on Ground awards for their Grand Final appearances in Hockey and Football. Jack Carlson also received runner up Best and Fairest across the Albany Hockey Association.

Year Twelve Farewell

On Sunday 18 September we held the Year Twelve farewell in the Dining Hall. It was a fantastic event to farewell the Year Twelve's into the next chapter. The Dining Hall was transformed into a red-carpet event with the theme being 'Op Shop Formal'. There were plenty of great outfits. Thankyou to all boys for your help and support.

Alexander Norrish

This term we farewell the only Year Twelve in Eclipse. Alex has been a positive member of Eclipse, and is well respected by his peers. We wish Alex all the best in his future endeavours and look forward to welcoming him back to share his stories of post school life and his recently acquired apprenticeship at Monty’s Leap.

The Love of Flight

Pierce Newman has a love of flying and is currently working towards getting his pilot's license.  A few weeks back, Pierce bought a new remote control aeroplane which several of the boys have shown great interest in.  Unfortunately the plane suffered a crash landing and broken wing. Since then Pierce purchased another plane and along with Fletcher Cugley and Brendan Quick they put effort into fixing both planes up.

Birthdays

Happy Birthday goes to Fletcher Cugley, Tommy Millar, Brendan Quick, Trenton Hams and to Marcus Pigram who will celebrate his birthday in the school holidays.  Many happy returns boys.

As always please get in touch via email, text or phone call with any concerns or questions.

Warm regards
