Visit the QTAC Offers webpage for specific information about responding to your offer.
It is essential that you respond by the due date (within four (4) days of receiving your offer). If you don’t, your offer will lapse and you will not be considered for any other offer rounds. When you receive an offer you have four response options to choose from (find them using the link earlier in the article).
If you choose 'Reject offer' - this option will see your QTAC application no longer active.
For the first three response options above, you can accept, reject or defer your offer. If you do miss a due date, contact QTAC ASAP. Also, it may not be wise to reject an offer. If you are considering doing this, first contact QTAC on 1300 467 822 to discuss this move.
Check your emails regularly
QTAC will usually communicate with you using the email address on your application (this should be your personal email - not your school email). This is also how QTAC lets you know you have an offer.
Get into the habit of checking your emails regularly. Think of linking your emails to your smart phone to make it easy for you to regularly check. Read Pages 13 of your QTAC book for more information.
Did you use the ‘desired – back-up - pathway’ plan when organising your preferences?
Go to the QTAC website and Page 9 in your QTAC Guide for information about this plan. Your sixth preference should be one that you have a very good chance of gaining entry, given its previous adjusted ATAR/rank threshold and your results. You also need to check the offer round dates of your preferences and make changes if the dates differ (preferences need to be chronologically organised according to the offer round of the courses you are applying for).
Courses you are offered in early offer rounds can be conditionally accepted and you can change your preferences for subsequent offer rounds if necessary. Have you deleted all wasted courses?
Wasted courses include those that:
You can check for updates as well as ask questions using social media. QTAC is active on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
If you decide to defer your QTAC offer, consider a gap year
Although the pandemic has not disappeared, international travel is far more accessible than it has been in the last two years. Overseas Gap Year opportunities are now opening up again. If you are in Year 11 or 12 it is a good time to start to research your GAP year options. To avoid missing out, it's important to begin your exploration early.
Start with the following list:
Camp America
Lattitude Global Volunteering
Letz Live
Projects Abroad
Ski Internship Courses
Southern Cross Cultural Exchange
World Education Program Student Exchange
Youth for Understanding (YFU) Australia
Always thoroughly investigate any gap year programs you are considering.
Get your parents involved in this process. Talk to people who have participated in the program and attend information sessions and webinars.
