Melbourne Cup Day
On Tuesday we held a dress up day and our students enjoyed participating in a range of Melbourne Cup themed activities in both Literacy and Numeracy.
The big hit of the day was our shared luncheon, with such a delicious selection of food, some of it specially themed for the day! Thank you to our families for making such a huge effort to make this day special.
Camp- Year 5/6 Camp to Anglesea
As most of you will know, our Year 5/6 students recently returned from a cluster camp at Anglesea. This experience was such a special and unique one, especially after years of us not being able to hold camps due to Covid restrictions.
Below is Link's recount of his experiences on the camp. Just click on the paperclip icon to read.
Year Six Graduation
Invitations will be sent out this week to the families of Year Six students and to school and community members who have worked closely with our graduating students and might like to attend the event. The graduation will be held on Thursday December 15th at the White Hills Bowls Club starting at 6pm.
Could families of Year 6 students please send along the requested photos for us to scan or on a data stick ASAP? We require time to make copies and add to the school driver so that the students can continue working on their biographies and so that we can begin to put together the video for graduation night. Whilst the event itself is still just over a month away, the preparations that involve the photos need to be done ahead of time, as staff have a great deal many other competing tasks to do before the end of the year.
Paying It Forward
Yesterday we were most fortunate to have a visit from Blake. Blake is a Year Six Student who lives in Bendigo (but his mum actually attended school here at Raywood Primary). Blake was lucky enough to receive a donation from a sports store in Bendigo of some cricket bats. Blake donated some to his own school, but also made the thoughtful decision to spread the kindness a little further and donate two bats to the kids here at Raywood. Thank you Blake, that is very generous and thoughtful and we can not wait to give the bats a whirl out on our oval! Below is Blake with our school leaders (and the bats, of course)!
That's all for this week- Lisa Duffy
News from Bree in the Office
This Monday afternoon the local community of Raywood and surrounds have the opportunity to participate in the East Loddon food Share Program. A great many families and individuals are finding the cost of living (grocery/petrol/utility prices) , recent weather events and recovery from the pandemic are making it more and more difficult to make ends meet. The East Loddon Food Share Program have supported our school families each term by providing us with a box or grocery goodies and I know a great many of our families have really appreciated this.
On Monday the group will open up a "pop up" grocery depot in our stadium (at the front right of the school); anyone in our school or local community is invited to come along and fill a grocery bag for $5- there will be a wide selection of food staples and family treats for you to select from. This offer is available to anyone, it is not means tested or subject to government payments. It is simply community helping community. If you personally do not need any groceries maybe you know of a family member, friend or neighbour that could use such a special gift.
Please support this initiative so that we may be able to offer this again in the future.
