Year 7/8

Year 7

Term 3 got off to an interesting start. The year 7s have 3 days back at school before we returned to remote learning for 8 days. We then returned for 9 days before we returned to remote learning again.

Even though we’ve only had a short period of time being physically at school, the Year 7s have packed in a lot of activities. So far, they’ve been busy in their core subjects, engaging in their new electives and getting involved in some of our lunchtime activities. The Term 3 sports have all held their tryouts so good luck to our basketball, badminton, handball, and table tennis teams that will compete later this term.

Remote learning is hard but the Year 7s have always risen to the challenge each time we’ve faced it this year. The Year 7 team and teachers are incredibly proud of how the Year 7s have engaged and continue to engage during remote learning this term.

Some tips to help make remote learning a little bit easier:

  • Make sure you are attending your google meets for each of your lessons
  • Keep your normal routine when you are at school
  • Try and set up an area that isn’t your bed or the couch to get your classes done
  • Go outside during recess and lunch
  • Get up, stretch, and walk around regularly throughout the day
  • Log-off at 3pm and do something fun that has nothing to do with school
  • Keep in contact with your friends
  • Remember to reach out to your teachers if you need any help or support

Year 8

With an interrupted start to term 3, year 8 have now settled in to the school routine really well. Our term 3 school uniform for students is the full winter uniform. Continuing this term is our weekly Thrilling Thursday home group challenge. The scores have been reset for the start of term and we currently with a new leader in 8C.

The RGAR point’s home group competition is also continuing and is growing closer as term 3 begins. Our leader is still 8K with 8C making up some points in second place. Student’s individual RGAR points are added together to make up the total points for each home group so every point counts!

Just a reminder, now that we have returned to onsite learning, home group starts at 8:50am each day. Students need to arrive at school before then to access their locker and get to their class. In term 2 there were over 40 students with 100% attendance who were rewarded with a certificate and 'goodie bag' by their year level leaders. Students with 100% attendance will have similar rewards at the end of the term!

Year 8 Camp is planned to take place at the end of term 3. A reminder to return your form and payment to the blue building office. The camp is run at Licola Wilderness Village on the Wednesday the 15th of September to Friday the 17th of September. All camp forms and payment are due on Friday the 20th of August.

Our year 8 girls netball and soccer teams are set to compete this term on the 12th and 18th of August, good luck girls!
