Back-To-School Operational Guidelines

It was fantastic to see all the children return to school today and transition quickly back into routine albeit under strict government-imposed guidelines.

As part of planned changes to keep schools safe and reduce the impact of any future outbreaks, all schools are required to implement COVID-safe behaviors. These include the following strategies to promote physical distancing, minimise mixing between groups and limit access to school grounds to only those providing essential services:

As communicated yesterday, and until further notice the following procedures will apply:

Morning Drop-offs

  • Kiss, Stop and Drop signs will be placed at the Ormond Road gates and the Office gates where a teacher will be on duty.
  • Parents are to leave immediately after dropping off the children. A parent will only be permitted to escort their child to the class teacher if that support is deemed necessary.
  • To reduce movement in and out, classrooms will remain closed until 8:55am (for security, children in Years 3-6 children can put their Chromebooks into their lockers upon arrival  and exit immediately)
  • All children will have their hands sanitised upon entry into learning areas
  • Parents and visitors are not permitted to enter the site at this stage.

Afternoon Pick-ups

  • In the afternoons, parents collecting children from the back of the school are permitted to space out in the Ormond Road playground. Parents collecting children from the front of the school are permitted to space out on the basketball court.
  • Teachers should take their children to each of the areas
  • No parents are to gather outside doorways
  • Parents/guardians and other children are not permitted to enter the Learning Areas

School Office

  • For the interim, the School Office will be closed to visitors. Families needing uniform requirements are to submit a uniform order via email. Once your order is prepared our lovely office staff will contact you and arrange for payment and pick up.
  • If you need to pick up your child(ren) early, please contact the office prior to arriving so that we can have your child(ren) ready.

Masks

  • Masks are to be worn by all people over the age of 12 (except primary school children) inside and out at all times.

Social Distancing

  • Please adhere to 1.5-metre social distancing measures at all times.

Sanitising

Sanitising stations are prominent in each building and all personnel should be sanitising hands regularly and when entering different spaces.

Gatherings & Meetings

School Assemblies, along with Staff professional development and the like will be conducted online.  All teacher/parent meetings are also to be conducted online.

Enhanced Cleaning

It's a Boy

In the midst of lockdown there was still some good news. Alicia (Year Prep) now has a new brother named Oliver Jayden Pham. Mum and baby are healthy and doing very well.

This little bundle of joy couldn't wait any longer, coming into the world at 38 weeks! Mum, Baby, and Dad are all doing well!

National Gallery of Victoria (NGV)  Whole School Excursion

Here's something to look forward to... our Whole School Excursion to the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) on Wednesday 11th August with the main attraction being:

MELBOURNE WINTER MASTERPIECES 2021

In an international exclusive, the NGV presents a major exhibition of more than 100 masterworks of French Impressionism in partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), an institution renowned world-wide for its rich holdings of Impressionist paintings.

Part of the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition series, French Impressionism features works by Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Camille Pissarro, Mary Cassatt and more – including 79 works that have never-before-been exhibited in Australia. These important loans from the MFA’s collection provide a rare opportunity to see a significant grouping of Impressionist masterworks in Australia.

Our children have been immersed in this genre through art lessons at school under the Guidance of Mrs Nathalie Fraser so it will be a great experience for our children.

Excursions are permitted if restricted to a single school so we will be working closely with NGV to ensure all COVID-Safe procedures are adhered to.

Keep an eye out for your Operoo alert which will provide information in detail.
