Acting Principal's Report

Acting Principal’s Report - 6th August 2021

Return to School

It was wonderful to see our children and staff back onsite last week. Having a buzz around the school at full capacity has been pleasing. Our students reconnected with others, their teachers and the routines of school seamlessly.

Thank you parents and carers for your support with learning and wellbeing at home. This aided the transition back to onsite learning.

COVID Protocols

It is essential that we follow the COVID protocols outlined by the Victorian Government and the Department of Education and Training documentations. Parents and carers are currently not allowed on-site unless entering via the front office. Only one Prep parent per family is allowed onsite to quickly drop off or pick up their child if the child is unable to do so. We have found a number of our Prep students being independent and going to and from the school gates quite comfortably each day.

As much as we would like to have our parent community onsite at the moment, there are tight parameters around this due to COVID requirements. Unfortunately, we have had some parents and carers not following these guidelines as stringently as required.

100 Days of Prep

Last Friday our Preps celebrated 100 days of being smarter. It was a fun-filled day with several older looking students and teachers. It is a great achievement considering some of the changes to onsite and online learning. Our Prep students have taken this all in their stride. Suitably all our students were excited throughout the day, however, I do feel some of the teachers enjoyed it even more!

Brooke Stratton

On Friday our sports captains sent a video message to Brooke Stratton who qualified for the Olympic Women’s Long Jump at Tokyo. Brooke lives close to our school. She loved the video and it inspired her to finish 7th, only 17cms away from the gold medal. What an effort. Well done to Tarkyn and Ada for representing our school in this video.

Swimming

This week we started our swimming program for Prep to Year 4. This is a vital part of our school program as safety around water is important for all children. Learning not only how to swim certain strokes but to know what to do when in water helps to save lives.

Have a lovely fortnight.
