Digital Technology in 2020

Term 1 has seen Year 9 and 10 Digital Technology classes booming with engagement and creativity on the back of key curriculum. Students have delved into real-world issues surrounding computer hardware, cyber security, robotics and artificial intelligence.

 

Susan below, has had great success learning about the processes of 3D printing and how it can affect real-world industries in apparel and jewellery.

Moving into Term 2, Digital Technology classes will focus on Software Programming and 3D/2D App Development.

Cyber Security

During term 1 students discovered how easy it is to phish personal information as part of the cyber security topic. This video reveals the magic behind the magic, making people aware of the fact that their entire life can be found online. And by doing so urging everybody to be vigilant. Tips for safely using online services such as banking can be found on staysmartonline.gov.au.

 

Careers Spotlight

Digital technology curriculum directly relates to real-world careers and jobs. In this month's newsletter we're focusing on Network Professionals. Here's some quick facts:

  • Savvy Computer Network Professionals can expect salaries in the range of $100-$150k.
  • Only 8% of Computer Network Professionals in Australia are women.
